Romance & Jazz – SOLD OUT

September 29, 2014 • 7:30 pm

The season begins with the Midwest Premiere of Grammy Award-winning artist Howard Levy’s Sonata for Oboe and Piano, a kaleidoscope of jazz, abstract blues, and Brazilian rhythms. Mozart’s effervescent Quartet for flute and strings follows, as well as Bartók’s intricate and intense Romanian Dances (the first movement of which was influenced by melodies played by gypsy violinists in Transylvania). The lush and romantic music of Vaughan Williams’ Quintet for piano and strings closes the evening.
