23rd Annual High School Chamber Music Competition
January 14, 2018 • 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Founded in 1995, the Rembrandt Chamber Musicians Annual High School Chamber Music Competition is widely regarded as one of the premier competitions of its kind in the Midwest, drawing participants from the Music Institute of Chicago, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, Midwest Young Artists, and a variety of public and private schools throughout the region. Competition winners have gone on to prestigious careers in music with some holding positions in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and San Diego Symphony Orchestras as well as the New York Philharmonic.
In addition to the prestige of being named Rembrandt Young Artists, winning groups receive cash prizes, master class instruction from Rembrandt musicians, and additional performance opportunities. 2018 competition winners will participate in the RYA Outreach Program with a special performance at Evanston Township High School.
This year, the competition will be held on January 14, 2018, at Northwestern University’s Regenstein Hall. It is free and open to the public. Rembrandt musicians and specially invited guest judges evaluate participating groups and provide valuable written feedback following the competition. Competition winners will perform at our second concert of the spring season on March 23 in Chicago and March 25 in Evanston as well as other venues in the area as opportunities arise.
We strongly encourage you to use our online form to apply this year rather than completing the printed form by hand.
